The Application Specialist provides support in developing & optimizing classifiers and algorithms for Metafer products, including slide scanning setup, data generation, training, and customer service. Primary activities include application development, product customization, user training, and assist with professional services. A&S Specialist provides customer service, predominately from our Boston office, but also in the field. A key focus is on achieving high proficiency in MetaSystems instruments and software.

Position Obligations:

  • In Office with Partial Home Office
  • Travel required (approx. 10 %)
  • Boston-based position

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop new solutions as necessary for customer installations & trouble shooting
  • Write or collaborate scientific papers, abstracts, project documentation to be used in publications/educational purposes
  • Perform installations independently or direct team at the customer site
  • Provide customer support on-site or through remote access
  • Perform preventative maintenance on installations and re-train users
  • Provide demo support/training to our Technical Sales team
  • Be available for customer inquiries and follow-ups by phone or e-mail
  • Enter and update Cases and Device History in ERP software / database as required in our QMS
  • Develop and execute training programs for customers as well as MGI team
  • Demonstrates an ability to complete advanced user training on our products
  • Solve compatibility issues related to Metafer hard- and software configurations
  • Coordinate with regulatory team regarding data management and reporting requirements
  • Support QM programs and certification efforts. Also meet company deadlines for expense report submission.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Expertise in installing and troubleshooting MetaSystems products
  • Service-oriented, yet mindful of customer responsibilities and obligations
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent project management skills
  • Works well under time constraints and communicates clearly and diplomatically with customers
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated to intensify knowledge and expertise
  • Knowledge of Office Software suite, statistical programs, NetSuite and SQL knowledge

Required / Desired Education & Experience:

  • Graduate degree (Ph.D. or Masters preferred) in Life Sciences, Biology, Engineering, or Computer Science
  • At least one year of experience in a similar field with in-depth knowledge of mathematics and statistics
  • Advanced proficiency with Python, Java, and R code writing
  • Experience with Deep Neural frameworks, libraries, data structures & modeling, and software architecture would be a plus.
