Workshop on Genomic Instability

An "International Workshop on Genomic Instability: Basic and Applied Aspects" was jointly organized by Environmental Mutagen Society of India (EMSI) and School of Bio-sciences and Technology, Vellore Institute of Technology from January, 27^th to 30^th under the guidance of Prof. Wilner Martinez-Lopez (Biological Research Institute “Cemente Estable”-Uruguay, IIBCE) and Prof. Radha Saraswathy (School of Bio-sciences and Technology, VIT).

As part of the Workshop, a practical demonstration of FISH was held on 29^th and 30^th January with support from MetaSystems India team where the detection of radiation-induced chromosomal aberrations by using MetaSystems Probes Chromosome Paint was shown and imaging performed with Isis software on a Zeiss Axioimager Z2 system. The FISH session was also presided over by Prof. Elza Sakamoto-Hojo (USP, Brazil), Prof. Prakash Hande (NUS, Singapore) and Prof. Vivian Kahl (CMRI, Australia).
