The year 1997 marked a turning point in the use of artificial intelligence (AI): for the very first time, a computer beat a world chess champion. Garri Kasparov lost in a six-game tournament against Deep Blue, a parallel computer from the IBM company. Today, AI is used in many areas. MetaSystems also uses so-called Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) for its imaging applications.
